Dr. James Michael Flynn, MD, FACC, FSCA

James began his career as Director of Echocardiography as well as the Director of Medical Education at the combined programs of the Nebraska Heart Institute and Bryan/LGH Medical Center. He participated in groundbreaking research studies such as REMATCH, investigating the Heartmate II LVAD left ventricular assist device and COMPANION, investigating cardiac resynchronization therapy for advanced heart failure. He was a founding member of the Nebraska Heart Hospital, a state of the art center for cardiac care.

Dr. Flynn then pursued further training in Interventional Cardiology before moving to Manchester NH. Joining NEHI/CMC in 2006, he has since served as the Medical Director of the Cardiac Catheterization Lab, and the Medical Director of Interventional Cardiology developing the transradial catheterization and interventional programs. In 2013 he pursued further training at the Heart Center in Munich, Germany to gain further expertise in the new field of transcatheter aortic valve replacement and became the Medical Director of the Structural Heart Program at CMC building this into one of the top programs in the region. Most recently he served as the Co- Executive Medical Director of the New England Heart and Vascular Institute before joining the Cardiovascular Specialists of New England.

Dr. Flynn has served in volunteer roles as the President of the NH chapter of the American Heart Association and served on the Executive Board of the Northern New England Cardiovascular Research Group.

Dr. Flynn’s skills include cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty and stenting, atherectomy, intravascular ultrasound, optical coherence tomography, coronary thrombectomy, shockwave lithotripsy, pulmonary thrombectomy, transcatheter aortic valve replacement, transcatheter mitral valve replacement and repair, transcatheter repair of patent foramen ovale and atrial septal defects.

His recent interests involve preventive care, wellness, and lifestyle medicine with a patient centered focus and access to the highest quality of care.

Dr. Flynn is Board Certified in Cardiovascular Disease, Interventional Cardiology, and Lifestyle Medicine.
